(Minnesota Daily Sept. 26, 2016) While University of Minnesota advocates have worked for years to add more lactation rooms on campus, some nursing mothers still struggle to find convenient spaces to use breast pumps, which can discourage women from breastfeeding or even delay their return to the University.
(July 5, 2016) Home isn’t just where the heart is; home is also where your meals are. Healthy meal and snacking habits at home could be building blocks for battling childhood obesity.
The University of Minnesota School of Nursing celebrated the class of 2016 during the School of Nursing commencement ceremony May 13 at Northrop. The school welcomed U.S. Sen. Amy Klobuchar, who delivered the commencement address. Klobuchar is the senior United States senator from Minnesota and the first woman elected to represent Minnesota in the U.S. Senate. Before serving in the Senate, Klobuchar served as the Hennepin County attorney for eight years and was a legal adviser to former Vice President Walter Mondale.

The University of Minnesota School of Nursing announced that Professor Renee Sieving, PhD, RN, FAAN, FSAHM, was named the inaugural holder of the Pauline A. Vincent Chair in Public Health. This chair honors the legacy of Pauline A. Vincent, PhD, MPH, RN, FAAN, who was a public health nursing leader and a 1956 alum of the University of Minnesota master’s degree in public health nursing program.

Mekelle University with support of One Health Workforce Project through One Health Central and Eastern Africa (OHCEA) has conducted e-learning training for 26 faculty and 28 students from the 8 colleges and 1 Institute.
As more baby boomers age, the need for quality end-of-life care – and people to provide it – continues to increase. This growing need also comes with the demand for quality training to prepare providers. To that end, nearly 900 people, including nurses, physicians, chaplains and bereavement counselors, will gather to learn how to best provide end-of-life care.
After years of our advocacy, Health & Human Services is pushing nurses to use common language in EHR.
A local nurse leader has accepted a unique new joint nurse scientist position.
