In 1909, the first nursing program within in a university was established at the University of Minnesota forever changing the trajectory of nursing education, and the profession. On May 1, we invite you to join us in commemorating the history of the School of Nursing and celebrating its bright future of lifting the educated spirit of the nurse and nursing.

Retired Army Lt. Gen. Patricia Horoho was the first woman and first Nurse Corps Officer to hold the appointment of U.S. Army Surgeon General and Commanding General of the U.S. Army Medical Command. She is currently CEO of OptumServe, which supports the health needs of federal agencies serving military members and their families, veterans and Medicare recipients.
