Welcome to the Nursing Profession

Sophomore students in the Bachelor of Science in Nursing program from the Minneapolis and Rochester campuses and first-year Master of Nursing students were welcomed into the nursing profession at a ceremony on Sept. 8 at Coffman Theater.

Endowed chairs & professors

The School of Nursing announced the appointment of five endowed chairs and professors.

New faculty

The University of Minnesota School of Nursing is welcoming eight new faculty to the school this fall, including two full professors. Additionally, two faculty are transitioning from clinical faculty to tenure-track faculty.

Sue Forneris

Susan Gross Forneris, PhD, RN, CNE, CHSE-A, FAAN, joined the school as professor and associate dean for Academic Programs. Gross Forneris has been a nurse educator for more than 20 years and most recently served as director for Innovation in Education Excellence at the National League for Nursing (NLN).

Allina

Allina Health and University of Minnesota School of Nursing announced the signing of a formal academic-practice partnership, or collaboratory, to generate, disseminate, and apply knowledge for the improvement of nursing practice, education, and patient outcomes.

Professor Christine Mueller, PhD, RN, FGSA, FAAN, Katherine R. & C. Walton Lillehei Chair in Nursing Leadership, was appointed by Gov. Tim Walz to the Minnesota Governor's Council on Developmental Disabilities.

Big Data Conference 2023

The 11th annual Nursing Knowledge: Big Data Science (NKBDS) Conference brought national and international experts to Minneapolis to discuss the value of nursing and the ways informatics can help foster improvements in nursing practice, research, education and leadership.

Spring Commencement 2023

The University of Minnesota School of Nursing celebrated the graduation of 136 Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) students, 111 Doctor of Nursing Practice students and 5 PhD in Nursing students, as well as 19 Institute for Health Informatics students, at a commencement ceremony May 15.
