Chesak, Kunkel inducted in National Academies of Practice

Clinical Professor Sherry Chesak, PhD, RN, and Clinical Associate Professor Dorcas Kunkel, DNP, RN, PHN, CNE, CPHIMS, were inducted into the National Academies of Practice (NAP).

Induction into the National Academies of Practice is an honor extended to those who have excelled in their profession and are dedicated to furthering interprofessional practice, scholarship and policy in support of interprofessional care.

Chesak’s research is centered on the investigation of interventions to support the resilience of professional caregivers and family caregivers. She is the inaugural director of the Center for Flourishing Health Care Communities at the School of Nursing and University of Minnesota Rochester. She also serves as a nurse scientist at Mayo Clinic.

Kunkel’s scholarship fosters equitable, inclusive, quality, safe, universal health care through nursing and interprofessional education using data driven approaches. She serves as co-director of the Center for the International Classification of Nursing Practice and co-leader of the Education Workgroup with the Nursing Knowledge Big Data Science Initiative.

Class of 2024 fellows were welcomed into the National Academies of Practice at an awards and induction ceremony in Florida on March 16.
