Mueller receives President’s Award for Outstanding Service

Christine Mueller, PhD, RN, FGSA, FAAN, professor and senior executive associate dean for academic programs, received the President’s Award for Outstanding Service. The award recognizes faculty or staff who have gone well beyond their regular duties and have demonstrated an unusual commitment to the University community.

“Dr. Mueller has dedicated her professional life to expansive and unwavering transformation of nursing,” said Dean Connie White Delaney, PhD, RN, FAAN, FACMI, FNAP.

Mueller, who has given 22 years of service to the University, led an initiative within the school to create the Doctor of Nursing Practice program, which is now one of the largest in the country.

Additionally, Mueller serves as the interim associate vice president for education in the Academic Health Center. “While her commitments were clearly over 100%, Chris stepped up to support and advance the President’s initiative to restructure the Academic Health Center. She was creative and expertly skilled in being able to serve as interim associate vice president for education. Her leadership has supported extensive reorganization,” said Delaney.

In the nomination letters, her colleagues applaud her integrity and dedication, noting that her ability to listen, support and provide clear guidance.

“The service and steadfast dedication she has to the University of Minnesota is exceptional, but often goes unsung because of her humility and servitude. She serves this University with grace, poise, dedication and humility,” said Marc Skjervem, director of Student and Career Advancement Services.
