Looman’s innovation honored by International Family Nursing Association

Professor Wendy Looman, PhD, APRN, CPNP-PC, received the 2019 Innovative Contribution to Family Nursing Award from the International Family Nursing Association (IFNA) at its conference held Aug. 13-16 in Washington, D.C.

The IFNA also recognized Professor Ann Garwick, PhD, RN, LP, LMFT FAAM, who was a finalist for the Excellence in Family Nursing Award and Assistant Professor Anne Chevalier McKechnie, PhD, RN, who was nominated for the Rising Star in Family Nursing Award. 

In addition to Looman, IFNA honored Ana Canga Armayor, PhD, MSc, RN, of the University of Navarra, Spain with its Innovation Contribution to Family Nursing Award. The award is given annually in recognition of sustained leadership in innovatively disseminating and implementing family nursing theory, research, and/or practice in their countries and languages.

Looman’s leadership in promoting family nursing through social media was highlighted in her nomination. Not only has she curated and disseminated family nursing content to an ever-growing following, she has presented globally on the use of social media and published on developing family nursing communities of practice through social media.
