Research

Research Summary/Interests

My research focuses on promoting health and wellness among older adults, particularly those with fall risk. My research program includes collaborations with colleagues whose expertise spans a broad range of areas--each a critical facet for advancing the science of fall prevention and the promotion of physical activity. My studies examine the relative effects of behavior change strategies on older adults' motivation and action to make physical activity part of their everyday life. The overarching purpose of these studies is to optimize physical activity interventions for older adults and reduce the public health problem of falls and their devastating effects on quality of life.

My specific research interests include:

  • Fall prevention
  • Physical activity
  • Motivation for health-related behavior
  • Intervention development
  • Use of technology to augment interventions
