Awarded to a graduate student who excels in one or more of the following areas:

  • Recognizes the health patterns of individuals, families, communities and populations representing diversity as integral to the discipline
  • Understands the contributions of philosophic, empiric and aesthetic knowledge to the development of the discipline
  • Develops and evaluates positions on moral and ethical issues in health care
  • Understands methods of inquiry and contributes knowledge to the profession of nursing through research
  • Explicates nursing's social mandate to respond to the health concerns of society.
