Below is a checklist of items that must be addressed prior to starting the program in fall 2017. We recommend getting started on these tasks immediately. All items must be completed by the deadlines stated. If a deadline isn't indicated, you will receive an email at a later date explaining the requirement with a deadline.

In order to complete this application, you must activate your email account, complete the intent to enroll form and pay the confirmation deposit. Also, you need to complete the FAFSA to be considered for these scholarships.

Compliance Requirements

As a new School of Nursing student, you will be required to fulfill a variety of compliance requirements. Many of these requirements are due prior to you starting in the fall and some are required on an annual basis. You DO NOT need to start any of your compliance requirements until you receive an email from the nurscomp@umn.edu that details the specific requirements, instructions, and deadlines. These requirements are extremely important and you're asked to complete them prior to the deadline. For more detailed information regarding compliance, please consult the School of Nursing Compliance Requirements webpage.

Registering for classes

Registering for classes

Registration for Fall 2017 is now available. Please connect with your faculty advisor to confirm appropriate course selections for your first semester. The Ph.D Program Plan will be a helpful point of reference for your discussion with your faculty advisor. Please complete your enrollment for Fall 2017 courses at your earliest convenience after the course selections are confirmed to ensure greatest course availability.  If you are an international student you will be permitted to complete your enrollment once you’ve arriven on campus.

Students at the University of Minnesota register for courses online through their MyU Portal.  Please be sure to review the helpful tutorials and how to guides to familiarize yourself with the registration system.

As a new PhD student, you are required to attend the University of Minnesota's Graduate School Orientation and the School of Nursing PhD New Student Orientation program. The School of Nursing PhD orientation program will discuss important information specifically about the PhD program, its requirements, milestones, curriculum, research, etc.

1:30pm to 4:30pm 
4:30pm to 6:00pm (optional social gathering with faculty and current students)

UCard & Student ID Badge

The UCard identifies you as a student, staff or faculty member of the Twin Cities campus. The card is free and can be obtained at the UCard office at Coffman Union. Bring your driver's license, state ID or passport and be prepared to have your picture taken.

As an AHC student, you will be required to have a student ID badge as well, which is also obtained through the UCard office.
