Billing System Components

Each practice requires staff to monitor complex policies and operations related to reimbursement. These include:

  1. Billing policies for processes such as documentation, cash collection, billing to credit cards
  2. Claims management policies for assistance of clients in claims processing
  3. Fee determination policies, such as sliding scale, payment plans, collections, interest charged on unpaid balances
  4. Credentialling policies for health care provider staff (for hospital privileges & for reimbursement)
  5. Referral and pre-authorization systems and policies

Note: As an APN, you need to be familiar with the above processes and policies. It's part of your job.
