Paid time off:
Paid time off generally includes:
- Vacation
- Illness
- Educational leave
The manner in which paid time off is distributed may vary. Some employers will allot a quantity of time for each specific area, such as two weeks vacation, one-week educational leave, or one-week sick leave per year. Others will allow a specified amount
of paid time off but not differentiate as to type leave (i.e., four weeks paid time off per year). There may be advantages to both systems but the latter allows for flexibility and individual discretion.
At a minimum, paid time off should encompass at least three weeks vacation and one week of educational leave annually or the equivalent of four weeks per year in one's first year of employment.
One might anticipate renegotiating this benefit in the future based on increasing responsibilities and contributions to the organization.
