Professional expenses:

As a health care professional, you are accountable for maintaining certain legal and professional requirements in order to practice. Some are dictated by professional boards of practice others may be mandated by an employer or insurance company. Membership in professional associations, while not requisite, is beneficial and recommended. All require payment of fees that are renewable on a predetermined basis. Specific expenses may include but are not limited to:
  • Professional licensing charges

  • Fees associated with prescriptive authority and obtaining a DEA number

  • Certification cost

  • Continuing education

  • Professional membership dues

Some fees, such as those associated with professional licensing, may vary from state to state. Determining the estimated cost of these expenses prior to meeting with potential employers will facilitate negotiating the inclusion of these cost as an employment benefit.
