Welcome to the Post-Masters Certificate Program

The Post-Masters (MS) Certificate program in Nursing offers students with MS degrees in Nursing the opportunity to complete an additional area of study. Formerly, the School of Nursing provided coursework for MS-prepared nurses as Professional Development students. There are a number of advantages for graduates in the change to the Post-MS Certificate program. These programs are common across the country in Nursing programs. Specialty certification boards are beginning to require documentation of completion of a formal program of study to be eligible to take certification examinations. Transcripts for students who graduate from the Post-MS Certificate program will list the name of the specific area of study. The certificate also provides the graduate with a way to formally acknowledge to clients, co-workers, and employers, the expanded professional expertise in the area of study.

The Post-Masters Certificate is a program under the auspices of the Graduate School at the University of Minnesota.

Please visit the Prospective Post-Masters Students page to learn more about each option and about how to apply.
