Scholarship includes:
- Full coverage of tution and fees
- Partial to full coverage of books and supplies
- Monthly stipend to cover other expenses incurred in connection with the program (for those eligible)
- Tutorial assistance
Requirements:
- Scholarship recipients must be willing to sign an "Indian Health Service Nursing Scholarship Program Contract" for obligated service payback. The minimum obligated service payback is two years.
Eligiblity:
- Students must be accepted to the University of Minnesota-School of Nursing and enrolled full-time in the Masters of Science in Nursing program.
- Students must have a valid RN license.
- Preference is given to students who are enrolled or tribally affiliated.
Areas of Study:
- Due to the large need of Masters prepared AI/NA nurses in Public Health, Nurse Midwifery and Nurse Anesthesia, preference is given to students in those areas of study.
- Other areas of study are also considered for funding, such as:
- Nursing and Healthcare Systems Administration
- Gerontological Nurse Practitioner
- Women's Health Care Nurse Practitioner
- Nursing Education
Learning options:
- Students may attend classes via distance education or on-site. Students who choose to attend via distance education are required to visit campus one to two times per semester for face to face classes. More information on the distance education option is available here.
