Online Learning
The School of Nursing is a leader at the University of Minnesota in providing a range of online learning opportunities for students pursuing graduate education. The University of Minnesota has outstanding technical and web design resources that enhance our ability to bring the latest developments in online learning into students' homes. The School of Nursing offers online Master of Science nursing courses for five specialty areas:
The Health Resources & Services Administration/Division of Nursing awarded continuing TELIGN grant funding to the School of Nursing to support online education in these five specialty areas. Students from Minnesota, Wisconsin, Iowa, North Dakota, or South Dakota can complete the M.S. program from the convenience of their own homes. The TELIGN grant also strives to increase the availability of ethnically/culturally and geographically diverse master's prepared NMs, WHCNPs, PHNs, PMHCNSs, and nursing leaders and administrators in the five-state area by increasing the number of ethnically/culturally and geographically diverse students. The School of Nursing is very excited that we are able to meet the growing demand for online learning programs and to offer this opportunity to nurses in the five-state area and beyond.
To build a sense of community among students and faculty there are seminars on-campus at least two times per semester. The M.S. program may be completed on a full or part-time basis. Elective or related courses may only be available on campus or through online education offerings of other accredited schools. Travel may be required in order to facilitate required clinical placements.
In addition to these five specialty areas, many other courses are available in an online format.
