Recipients who are nominated must demonstrate excellence in the area of vascular nursing research, education, or practice within his/her community, state, or nation. Candidates must be nominated by both a current SVN member and a registered nurse.
"Diane truly represents the values of our society," said Alan Hirsch, M.D., University of Minnesota School of Public Health professor, chair of the Peripheral Arterial Disease Coalition, and SVN member. "These efforts have served the Society of Vascular Nursing as it has achieved a position as a major leader of national vascular nursing and educational efforts."
Treat-Jacobson is an associate professor in the School of Nursing and a 10-year member of the SVN. She has been a national leader in educational efforts to increase awareness and early detection of peripheral arterial disease. Her research interests include exercise physiology and cardiovascular health with a focus on the impact of exercise interventions to improve functioning and the quality of life in individuals with peripheral arterial disease.
