Roxanne Struthers Passes Into the Spirit World

ROXANNE STRUTHERS, SCHOOL OF NURSING FACULTY MEMBER, DIES

(Minneapolis, MN, December 12, 2005) - Roxanne Struthers, Assistant Professor at the School of Nursing, died Saturday evening of acute lymphocytic leukemia. Her teaching and research focused on American Indian/Alaskan Native health and health care, holistic care for indigenous women and indigenous traditional healing. She leaves behind her husband Jim, twin daughters Julie and Jody, and sons Jesse and John.

A traditional American Indian wake will be held in White Earth, MN on Tuesday, December 13, 2005. The funeral will be held in Ponsford, MN on Thursday, December 15, 2005.

The School of Nursing is establishing the Roxanne Struthers Fellowship to support graduate students in nursing, building on Roxanne's legacy and work with the American Indian community.
