Application Process
The application process for the M.S. program consists of two (2) parts. All applicants must fulfill the application requirements and apply to both of the following entities:
- U of M Graduate School
- U of M School of Nursing
The application requirements of both the Graduate School and the School of Nursing must be met. Complete application instructions can be found in the Application Packet. (Note: You will need the Acrobat Reader to access this information. You can download a free copy of this software by clicking here.)
Part 1 of 2: Graduate School Application Materials
Send the following materials to the Graduate School by the School of Nursing application deadline (please read the instructions in the Application Packet for complete details):
- Graduate School application
- $55 application fee
($75 for international students)
- Official transcripts from all institutions
Note: The Graduate School now requires that transcripts be sent directly from the institution/s you attended. Have the institutions you attended send your transcript/s directly to the Graduate School at the address provided.

Part 2 of 2: School of Nursing Application Packet
Complete the School of Nursing Application.
To assure successful completion, follow all instructions on the Instructions page and on all individual forms included in the Application Packet.

Instructions for completing the School of Nursing Application Forms
You have two options for completing the forms:
- You may print the forms and complete them with a typewriter or an ink pen.
- You may complete the forms from within your web browser and print them.
If you chose to complete the forms from within your web browser:
- You will need the Adobe Acrobat Reader to access all of the forms. (This free software can be downloaded via this link.)
- You may use either the Tab key or the mouse to move from field to field.
- You must complete and print an entire document before logging out of Adobe Acrobat. Depending on the type of browser you use, you may not be able to save an incomplete form. If you log out before the form is completed, you may lose your work.
- To print the form, be sure that the cursor has been clicked outside the text boxes. The information you've entered on the form may not print if the cursor is activated inside any text box.
