The goals of the Minnesota Hartford Center of Geriatric Nursing Excellence are to:
Recruit doctoral students who are committed to academic careers in geriatric nursing
Offer an innovative faculty development program - Faculty Learning About Geriatrics (FLAG) - to existing faculty and advanced practice nurses in the Upper Midwestern states and Tribal Colleges
Establish the Upper Midwest Geriatric Nursing Education Alliance to strengthen the teaching of geriatric nursing in associate degree and higher nursing programs in Minnesota, North and South Dakota, Wisconsin, and the Tribal Colleges
Mission
The mission of the Minnesota Hartford Center of Geriatric Nursing Excellence is to advance the care of older adults by preparing outstanding nursing faculty from diverse backgrounds who can provide leadership in strengthening geriatric nursing at all levels of academic nursing programs. The focus of the MnHCGNE is to increase the number of new and existing faculty who will provide academic leadership in geriatric nursing in associate and higher degree programs in the Upper Midwest region and Tribal Colleges.
