Position Description:

Higher education is vastly different today than even 20 years ago. Knowledge management, encompassing knowledge development, representation, discovery, translation, is the direction for higher education. The University of Minnesota School of Nursing (UMSON) is expanding its leadership role across all three missions of research/scholarship, education, and practice in meeting this challenge. The UMSON is seeking a School of Nursing Coordinator for the Rochester campus. This position works closely with University of Minnesota coordinate campus in Rochester, Mayo Clinic, community partners. This individual will partner with the leadership of the School of Nursing to promote synergy with the SON - Twin Cities in co-creating and implementing a vision, procuring resources and creating an environment for creative and visionary academic programming and scholarship in Rochester. The School of Nursing Coordinator will report to the UMSON Dean, and will collaborate with both the Associate Dean for Academic Programs and the Associate Dean for Research and Scholarship as regards the Rochester campus.

Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with the Associate Dean for Academic Programs and appropriate program directors to grow and effectively implement academic programming that ensures quality and efficiency, relevance and value on the Rochester campus
  • Collaborate with the Associate Dean for Research to promote the SON research/scholarship mission within Rochester relationships and partnerships
  • Promote service, outreach, and university programming for the Rochester Campus
  • Represent the SON within the Rochester community, fostering recognition of the SON
  • Serve as a liaison and develop cooperative working relationships with UM-R, Mayo Clinic, health systems, and other leadership within Rochester campus
  • Serve as a liaison and develop cooperative working relationships with UM-R, Mayo Clinic, health systems, and other leadership within Rochester campus
  • Participate in the deliberations related to SON policies and resources (fiscal, human, facilities), and support implementation of those policies on the Rochester campus
  • Participate in the development of SON strategic planning and implementation of activities to support these plans
  • Manage SON resources allocated to the Rochester campus
  • Participate with the Dean, Executive Council, and other SON governance structures
  • Participate in recruitment and retention of faculty and staff
  • Work with the Director of Inclusivity & Diversity to enhance recruitment and retention and cultural competence of diverse faculty, staff, and students
  • Congruent with all faculty appointments, participate as a member of the appropriate cooperative unit
  • Supervise UMSON-Rochester campus Administrative Assistant

[Although this position carries a faculty rank, this position will initially serve in an administrative capacity. It is anticipated that teaching assignments could become a part of the position, depending on the FTE negotiated and/or expansion of the position. In addition, this position will receive a summer appointment for administrative duties.]

Required Qualifications:

  • Masters degree and matriculation in a doctoral program required
  • Credentials for appointment to a clinical track or tenure-track faculty position in the School of Nursing
  • Credentials as an educator/academician
  • Leadership and administrative experience
  • Ability to bring constituent groups together to advance the tri-missions of research/scholarship, education, and service/practice
  • Record/evidence of scholarship

Preferred Qualifications:

  • DNP/PhD preferred
