Clinical Scholars The Densford Clinical Scholars program is a unique opportunity for advanced practice nurses in hospital and clinical environments and School of Nursing faculty to engage in clinical research as partners. Clinical Scholars are selected for one-year, renewable terms. Applications are accepted in the spring, with the term beginning in the fall.
Densford Undergraduate Scholars Each year a senior undergraduate is selected from a highly competitive group of peers to participate in an enriched leadership experience in the Densford International Center as a scholar. This year (2008-2009) the opportunity was also offered to an incoming junior undergraduate. Working with the Director and other Center staff, scholars participate in diverse projects that contribute to the Center, further their professional interest, and develop their leadership skills.
Multicultural Initiatives Today's health care and global network calls for well developed skills in fostering diversity and inclusivity, in adjusting situations to accommodate the practices of different cultures, in creating environments that support diversity, and in understanding health care outside the United States. A program implemented by the Densford Center was the Multicultural Leadership Training Program, supported by grant funds in 2003-2004.
Scholarships and Awards Scholarships and awards sponsored by the Densford Center recognize leadership in promising undergraduate and graduate nursing students. They include the Amy Seevers Nelson and David C. Nelson Scholarship for Densford Undergraduate Scholars, the Barbara Volk Tebbitt Award, the Audrey Windemuth Nursing Scholarship, for undergraduates; and the Dora Stohl Fellowship in Nursing Leadership, given to a graduate student.
