Immunization Requirements
According to OSHA regulations, CDC guidelines and the University of Minnesota Academic Health Center (AHC) policy, all students are required to have current immunizations and/or tests as a condition of enrollment. This information must be completed prior to starting classes at the School of Nursing. For more information about the required immunizations, please visit the Boynton Health Center web site: http://www.bhs.umn.edu/services/immunizationservices.htm.
Background Study
The University of Minnesota AHC and Minnesota state law require that a criminal background study be conducted annually for students admitted to our nursing programs. This is a condition of enrollment and must be completed by newly admitted students prior to matriculation.
International Students
For visa information, contact the International Student and Scholar Services Office (ISSS) at 612-626-7100 or http://www.isss.umn.edu. All international students coming to the University on an F-1 or J-1 visa must be enrolled full-time each semester, regardless of whether the program is available on a part-time basis.
Students with Disabilities
Disability Services (DS) works to ensure access to courses, services, activities, employment and facilities for all University of Minnesota students, faculty and staff with disabilities. Any student with a documented disability (e.g. physical, learning, psychiatric, sensory or systemic) who needs to arrange reasonable accommodations must contact Disability Services to determine eligibility for services. The DS Academic Health Center Liaison will assist eligible students with obtaining documentation of disability conditions, determining and implementing reasonable accommodations, and provide information, referral, and consultation. All services are confidential and free. The Academic Health Center Liaison is located in the McNamara Alumni Center, Suite 180 and can be reached by calling 612-626-1333 (voice or TTY).
Diversity and Equal Opportunity
Growing diversity of the nation's population underscores the need to prepare future nursing practitioners and researchers who are knowledgeable and sensitive to the population's needs. The School of Nursing seeks to admit and educate a diverse student body, both in order to enrich the students' educational experience and to prepare them to meet the health needs of a diverse society. Student body characteristics that will enhance diversity in the school include leadership qualities, a strong work, community or public service record, special talents and interests, gender (males are underrepresented in the nursing profession), and a wide range of economic, social racial/ethnic and geographic backgrounds. The University of Minnesota is an equal opportunity educator and employer.

Online Learning
The School of Nursing is a leader at the University of Minnesota in providing a range of online learning opportunities for students pursuing advanced nursing education. The University of Minnesota has outstanding technical and web-design resources that enhance our ability to bring the latest developments in online learning into students' homes. All courses offered online include two to three intensive on-campus sessions of two to three days each per semester. Online learning provides an opportunity for students who live outside the Twin Cities metro area to obtain an advanced degree in nursing and offers flexible options for those who live in the metro area. While not all specialty programs are offered online, all specialties provide opportunities for learning online for a significant part of the program.
