Your First Visit

You will work with a nurse practitioner who is a specialist in women's continence. On your first visit, she will conduct a comprehensive evaluation, using state-of-the-art diagnostic procedures. The evaluation will include:

  • History and physical examination
  • Pelvic floor muscle assessment
  • Fluid intake and voiding patterns
  • Simple bladder function tests
  • Other diagnostic tests as needed

Please remember to bring along a bladder diary to document your experience for the previous two weeks. (Note: You will need the Acrobat Reader to access this information. You can download a free copy of this software by clicking here.)

With your help, the nurse practitioner will design an individualized treatment plan that reflects your preferences and lifestyle. She will give you a take-home packet with instructions and information to help you better understand your situation and treatment options. More than likely you set a date for a follow-up appointment.
