Nursing Leadership and Management
Learn About Us
The
University of Minnesota School
of Nursing is proud to provide this Web site as a resource for nurse
leaders in long-term care. The School of Nursing has a long history
in identifying and responding to needs of the nursing profession. Established
in 1909, the School had the first continuing nursing program on a university
campus. It established its baccalaureate program in 1919 and its masters
program in 1950. The internationally known doctoral program has been
in existence for 18 years.
The
School's Center
for Gerontological Nursing has over 20 faculty who are engaged
in gerontological nursing research. The Center is committed to improving
the health, quality of life and delivery of quality nursing care to
older adults. One strategy the Center is using to fulfill that commitment
is to address the education needs of future and current nurse leaders
in long-term care.
An
ongoing passion for one Center member, Christine
Mueller, PhD, RN, has been to strengthen the leadership capacity
of nurses in long-term care. This website and the on-line courses were
developed by Dr. Mueller with a grant from the University of Minnesota
Technology Enhanced Learning Small Grants Program.
