Module 7: Allergic Rhinitis, Mechanisms and Management Begin course |  | Awarded Contact hours: ANCC 1.45; MNBON 1.75 Purpose and Description This presentation discusses the symptoms of allergic rhinitis and the important components to be included in the history and physical exam when diagnosing allergic rhinitis. The management of allergic rhinitis is described and incidents when referrals may be necessary. Objectives of the Module: On completion of this assessment, the learner will: - Describe the pathophysiology producing clinical allergic rhinitis symptoms in children.
- Identify relevant medical history details and physical assessment areas critical to the diagnosis of allergic rhinitis in children.
- Discuss appropriate environmental and pharmaceutical management of allergic rhinitis in children, including referral points.
Target Audience This module is appropriate for nurses, social workers, physicians and psychologists, and public health and health care professionals who are involved in the care and treatment of children. Learning Methods This web-based instructional module was created using Flash technology. Features include graphics, interactive questions, hyperlinks, video and narration. For your convenience the module has been formatted in short time frames. For successful completion and to receive your certificate, you are required to view all module components. Author Bio-sketch and Credentials Mary Anne , RN, MS, FNP, AE-C, has over 20 years experience working in the outpatient setting with patients affected by allergic disease and asthma. She has extensive experience with patient and family education regarding allergic disease and asthma. Mary Anne provides education to health professionals at local and national venues. Also, she has developed and manages the local program 'Annual Allergy & Asthma Conference', an all-day continuing education program directed exclusively to non-physician health care professionals since 1997.
