Named the University’s Outstanding Alumni Society of the Year in both 2010 and 2006, the Nursing Alumni Society’s mission is to foster a community of nursing students, alumni and faculty that enriches the professional lives of our members and strengthens the School.
This alumni community: - Creates connections and opportunities among alumni, undergraduate and graduate nursing students.
- Bridges the transition from nursing student to becoming a nursing professional.
- Nurtures relationships among alumni to build and sustain a strong commitment to the School of Nursing
- Serves as a resource for the School
- Advocates for the School of Nursing locally and globally.
Our vision is to engage lifelong partners who span the generations, creating a web of women and men who work together to support the School of Nursing and each other. All are invited to participate in ongoing society activities and to become proud members of the University of Minnesota Alumni Association.
Program highlights include:
- Nursing Alumni Spring Celebration and Reunion Weekend honors reunion classes, recognizes achievement and provides an opportunity for networking and discovery. - April 26, 2012
- Best Foot Forward event provides a breath of fresh air and encouragement for junior BSN students during the stress-filled time of finals.
- Speed Mentoring Program (held annually on both the Twin Cities and Rochester campuses) enables students to network with a wide variety of alumni mentors in one evening and provides exposure to an array of nursing specialty and practice areas.
- Student Orientation Reception provides incoming undergraduate students with an opportunity to relax and socialize following a full day of orientation to the nursing program.
- Annual Awards Program recognizes outstanding alumni, students and faculty.
- Special lectures and programs are offered to utilize the School’s resources and to enrich the professional lives of our members.
When you join the U of M Alumni Association, you are sending a powerful message of support. Strong membership means strong programming. With every new member, the School of Nursing Alumni Society is able to enhance services in support of the School, its students and alumni. New graduates receive a one-year complimentary membership. Single, multi-year and life membership options are available for alumni, faculty and friends.
