The Conference
The 26th Annual Conference of the American Association for the History of Nursing (AAHN) will offer an exceptional opportunity for exchange of knowledge about the profession of nursing and its impact across time, populations, and geography.

Participants will engage in the scholarly exchange of knowledge about the development of nursing and health care in the United States and internationally, while gaining insights on current issues as they are examined through the lens of historical research. They will be able to describe how nurses in different historical periods have positively impacted the health of individuals and groups. The program includes presentations, posters, exhibits, tours, a traditional banquet and a live auction with a few new twists.

Keynote Speaker
Steven Berlin Johnson is the best-selling author of six books on the intersection of science, technology, and personal experience. His writings have influenced everything from the way political campaigns use the Internet, to cutting-edge ideas in urban planning, to the battle against 21st-century terrorism.  Johnson’s award-winning book The Ghost Map is a thrilling historical account of the worst cholera outbreak in Victorian London and a brilliant exploration of how Dr. John Snow's solution revolutionized the way we think about disease, cities, science, and the modern world. Both social critic and technologist, Johnson has a genius for mapping the future—for predicting and explaining the real-world impact of cutting-edge developments in science, technology, and media.

Presentation sponsored by the University of Minnesota School of Public Health and the University of Minnesota Medical School
